It's March 20th, 2011. I just finished up my last spring break (ever), and I wasn't really expecting or planning on going back to school tomorrow simply because I knew Layla would make her appearance sometime this past week.
She didn't.
She, apparently, is perfectly content spending a little more time in there. I'm okay with that, I guess, but I'm very very ready to meet her.
I've always heard people talking about it feeling like a rib is going to break from the baby kicking. I hadn't felt that....until this past week. It's one of the weirdest, coolest feelings ever. Being able to put my hand on the exact spot that her foot is and even being able to move it is quite.....amazing. I know I will definitely miss those feelings, but I know life with her will be so much better than those feelings.
I spent most of this past week "resting" but mostly being bored. One day was full of major cleaning and organizing, and I can now say that her room is ready. Hospital bags are packed. The car seat is in the car. We're ready (the word "ready" is used very loosely here...)
Zach, his parents, and brothers drove over on Friday. My grandparents also arrived in their RV on Friday. We had a very fun cookout Friday night, and we ended the night with a fun game of Apples to Apples. On Saturday, we all ventured over to Dublin, Texas to tour the Dr. Pepper Museum. It was a fun day and quite a good way to end the spring break.
I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow, and I'm definitely hoping that some progress has been made. Because of my gestational diabetes, the doctor will more than likely want to induce this week if there is no progress. If everything is good and Layla is healthy, I'm hoping the doctor will let me go until Layla comes on her own. We'll see!

Can hardly wait
It's almost coming to an end, and even though I'm extremely ecstatic about starting this new phase in life, I will admit that I am going to miss being pregnant. I love laying in bed watching a movie and just feeling her move. It's a lot of fun to be alone, but to know I'm not alone. Okay, maybe feeling those little butterfly flutters is all I'll miss when it comes to being pregnant. I can't wait to see what she looks like and to hold her. I've held babies before, and I've held babies that I love. I never thought I could love someone as much as I love my niece and nephews, but it's already happened and she's not even here yet!
Zach and I could not agree for anything on names, and we had thought about the name Layla, and we just both decided it was perfect. I think it's beautiful, and what's funny is the fact that I have had names picked out for years, and none of them were chosen. ha.
Layla means "born at night", and Ann means "gracious". I do hope she will live her life so that she completely represents her middle name.
Overall, the pregnancy has been great. Brief morning sickness during the first trimester, but it didn't last past that (thankfully). I'm continually shocked at how pregnancy effects things you wouldn't think...just like swelling, heartburn, headaches, congestion....all that kind of stuff. I'm not complaining because I know that the end result will be well worth ANYTHING that happens in these nine months.
Now, we only have three weeks to go. I'm still waiting for this "nesting" thing to hit. I know I need to get the apartment prepared to bring Layla home. It astounds me that she could come any day now...So terrifying and exciting at the same time.
